ChargeZone, Fresh Bus Expand Partnership to 500 Electric Buses

ChargeZone and Fresh Bus are expanding their partnership to support 500 electric buses, backed by 40 MW of dedicated charging capacity across multiple states.

ChargeZone and Fresh Bus have expanded their existing partnership, with Fresh Bus planning to deploy an additional 400 electric buses on ChargeZone’s charging network. The expansion will increase the Fresh Bus fleet supported by ChargeZone’s infrastructure from 100 to 500 electric buses.

The expanded operations are planned over the next 15 months and will connect 20 cities while covering 17 additional towns across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

ChargeZone to Add 30 MW Charging Capacity

To support the larger Fresh Bus fleet, ChargeZone will deploy 30 MW of additional charging capacity, alongside the 10 MW of dedicated infrastructure already installed for the network. This will take the total dedicated charging capacity for Fresh Bus operations to 40 MW.

The new capacity will also contribute to ChargeZone’s broader plan to add 200 MW of charging capacity across its national network.

Once fully operational, the expanded partnership is expected to deliver around 100 million units of energy annually and support more than 20,000 passenger journeys every day. The companies estimate that the electric bus network could help reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 9,000–10,000 tonnes annually.

ChargeZone and Fresh Bus Scale Intercity Electric Mobility

ChargeZone Founder and CEO Kartikey Hariyani said the expansion highlights the importance of commercial mobility, particularly intercity public transport, in accelerating EV adoption.

Fresh Bus Founder Sudhakar Reddy said the larger electric fleet would help expand the company’s intercity operations, while noting that reliable charging infrastructure remains critical for running electric buses across multiple routes.

ChargeZone currently operates more than 15,000 charging points across over 1,200 locations in India and the UAE. Fresh Bus operates an all-electric intercity bus service in India.

The expanded partnership marks another step towards building a larger electric intercity transport network, with charging infrastructure playing a central role in supporting high-utilisation commercial EV fleets.
