Indofast Energy and Green Tiger Mobility have announced a strategic partnership to convert petrol-powered two-wheelers into electric vehicles equipped with battery-swapping capabilities. The initiative is currently active in Bangalore and will roll out in Delhi NCR by May, with a nationwide expansion planned over the next 15 months.
The retrofit program enables owners to electrify their existing petrol scooters for a starting price of ₹10,000. This all-inclusive cost covers RTO approvals, insurance, and full regulatory compliance. Customers can also opt for EMI payments, which are designed to be offset by fuel savings over time.
At launch, the solution supports 11 popular scooter models from brands like Hero, Honda, Suzuki, TVS, and Yamaha. Initially focused on quick commerce delivery riders, the program will gradually open to the broader public.
Green Tiger Mobility’s ARAI-certified retrofit kits are supported by government bodies and academic institutions, adding credibility to the initiative. Indofast Energy, a joint venture of IndianOil and SUN Mobility, operates over 900 battery swap stations across India, enabling over a million swaps monthly for various electric vehicles. The partnership aims to accelerate EV adoption by offering an affordable, sustainable alternative to petrol scooters. Indofast’s Rajat Malhan highlighted its role in cutting emissions and fuel costs, while Green Tiger’s Ashish Dokania emphasized the practicality of converting existing vehicles over buying new ones.
