JBM Ecolife Mobility Pvt Ltd., a subsidiary of JBM Auto Limited, has secured an order for 1,021 electric buses under the Government of India’s PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme-2. Valued at approximately ₹5,500 crore, the order will see the deployment of these buses across 19 cities in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Haryana, bringing the company’s total order book to over 11,000 electric buses.
JBM Ecolife Mobility will oversee the project’s end-to-end execution, which includes a Payment Security Mechanism (PSM) to ensure timely payments to operators and enhance financial sustainability. Over their 12-year deployment, these e-buses are expected to cover 32 billion passenger e-kilometers and cut CO2 emissions by more than 1 billion tons.
The PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme-2 aims to expand electric bus deployment across multiple states, reducing urban pollution and modernizing public transit. It includes a Payment Security Mechanism to ensure financial viability for operators and provisions for comprehensive maintenance services. Focusing on tier-2 and tier-3 cities, this phase extends clean transportation beyond metropolitan areas, aligning with India’s climate goals by cutting carbon emissions while enhancing connectivity.

JBM Auto marks a decade in the public mobility sector, aiming to serve 20 billion passengers and cover 3 billion e-kilometers in the next 3-4 years. The company has deployed 2,000 electric buses across India, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa and operates a large manufacturing facility in Delhi-NCR with a 20,000-unit annual capacity. Its latest order under the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme-2 reinforces JBM’s commitment to electric mobility and India’s sustainable public transport goals.
