With BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems expanding its electrification and electronics portfolio, the new role is designed to strengthen product management strategies, focusing on cost efficiency, technical development, market readiness, and regulatory compliance.
As Global Director of Product Management, Krishnamurthy will drive product industrialization readiness while collaborating across functions to develop competitive product platform solutions. He will oversee the alignment of product roadmaps with strategic and sales objectives, ensuring timely delivery of compliant solutions. Additionally, his role will emphasize enhancing engineering efficiency, optimizing productivity, and reinforcing product safety and security compliance within the engineering framework.
Company leadership anticipates that Krishnamurthy’s appointment will support BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems’ ongoing efforts to refine its product management approach and adapt to evolving industry demands.
BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems, a division of the American automotive supplier BorgWarner Inc., has expanded its operations in India to support its global electrification initiatives. In January 2023, the company inaugurated the India Propulsion Engineering Centre (IPEC) in Whitefield, Bengaluru. This 95,000-square-foot facility focuses on the development of electric propulsion systems, including inverters, DC-DC converters, on-board chargers, integrated drive modules, and battery management systems. The center also works on propulsion controllers for internal combustion engines and transmissions.
BorgWarner has been expanding its India Propulsion Engineering Center (IPEC) to support its global electrification efforts. By the end of 2023, the company aimed to grow its engineering workforce at IPEC from 320 to over 550, leveraging local talent in functional safety and cybersecurity.
In July 2024, BorgWarner further expanded IPEC with the launch of an 11,600-square-foot High Voltage Propulsion Engineering Laboratory. This facility enables advanced testing of electric propulsion systems, including high-voltage traction motors, inverters, and DC-DC converters, supporting the company’s innovation in vehicle electrification.
These investments align with BorgWarner’s “Charging Forward” strategy, which targets 45% of sales from EVs by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2035. The Bengaluru facilities play a key role in achieving these goals.
