Daimler Truck has announced the appointment of Raghavendra Vaidya as its new Chief Information Officer, effective June 1, 2025. Vaidya currently serves as Managing Director and CEO of Daimler Truck Innovation Center India (DTICI) and will succeed Marcus Claesson, who is stepping down to explore new opportunities.
With over 25 years of experience in IT leadership roles, Vaidya will now be responsible for overseeing Daimler Truck’s global IT operations and advancing its digital transformation journey. His extensive background, including his current leadership at DTICI in Bangalore, positions him well to drive the company’s next phase of digital innovation.
“We are pleased to welcome Raghavendra Vaidya to our Executive Team,” said Andreas Gorbach, Member of the Board of Management for Truck Technology. “In his previous role, Raghavendra played a key role in transforming the Daimler Truck Innovation Center India (DTICI) in Bangalore into a vital part of our global operations, supporting central functions, engineering, and IT. With over 25 years of experience in IT leadership, he brings deep expertise, strategic vision, and strong leadership that will be critical as we advance into a dynamic, data-driven future.”
Vaidya joined the former Daimler AG in 2016 as Senior Vice President – IT at Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India, following leadership roles at General Electric. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from R.V. College of Engineering, Bangalore, and a master’s in software systems from BITS Pilani.
Outgoing CIO Marcus Claesson played a key role in establishing Daimler Truck’s independent IT infrastructure post-spin-off from Daimler AG and led global vehicle connectivity efforts, surpassing one million connected vehicles. Andreas Gorbach thanked him for his significant contributions and expressed confidence in Raghavendra Vaidya to build on this strong foundation.
