New Toyota RAV4 unveiled in Japan

The new RAV4 offers PHEV and HEV models, with the PHEV featuring a newly developed Plug-in Hybrid System that combines a high-capacity battery and high-output charger, marking its first use of Toyota’s latest sixth-generation hybrid technology—delivering a powertrain designed for versatile, electrified performance.

Toyota Motor Corporation revealed the all-new RAV4 globally on May 21, with plans to launch it in Japan by the end of FY2025.

Since its debut in 1994, the RAV4 has been a pioneer in the crossover SUV segment, originally designed for both off-road and on-road driving. Over five generations, it has evolved to adapt to changing lifestyles and remains a popular choice worldwide.

The fifth-generation RAV4, launched in 2019, was built on the concept of a “Robust Accurate Vehicle with 4 Wheel Drive,” combining SUV power and utility with sophistication. It introduced Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, enhancing driving responsiveness, maneuverability, and stability across all road conditions.

Embracing the philosophy that “Life is an Adventure,” the sixth-generation RAV4 is designed to empower every driver to fully enjoy an active lifestyle. Building on the distinctive driving experience refined in the fifth generation, this new model introduces a specially developed hybrid system that delivers enhanced acceleration. The result is a more evolved RAV4—one that feels capable of tackling any terrain and any task, combining practicality with advanced intelligent technologies that prioritize driver convenience.

At the heart of this leap in vehicle intelligence is Arene, Toyota’s inaugural software development platform. Leveraging Arene, Toyota strives to elevate safety and peace of mind while enriching the overall mobility experience. The new RAV4 is crafted to be a trusted companion, seamlessly adapting to diverse lifestyles—from vibrant city living to thrilling outdoor adventures.

Toyota will successively roll out the new RAV4 to customers in over 180 countries and regions globally.
