Switch Mobility, the electric bus and light commercial vehicle maker of the Hinduja Group, has announced the elevation of Mahesh Babu as CEO. Babu had joined the company in September last year as its global COO and India CEO. He takes over the role from Andy Palmer, who, according to the company, requested to step down as Vice Chairman and CEO for personal reasons. In a press statement, Switch Mobility said, ‘To maintain continuity of strategy and execution of plans, the Board has approved the elevation of Mahesh Babu as CEO of Switch Mobility. Dheeraj Hinduja will be assuming the role of Executive Chairman, immediately.
“I would like to personally thank Andy for his vision and commitment since the inception of Switch and what we have achieved so far would not have been possible without his wise leadership. Mahesh has the track record of successfully growing the business in India and I am confident that under his leadership, we can achieve the same in the UK and Europe, “ Dheeraj Hinduja, Executive Chairman, Switch Mobility, said.
Prior to joining Switch Mobility, Mahesh Babu had a 22-year stint at the Mahindra Group, where his last role was MD & CEO of Mahindra Electric Mobility. Babu had a nearly eight and a half year stint at Ashok Leyland before shifting to Mahindra & Mahindra.
