Volkswagen India has appointed automotive industry veteran Rishi Goel as its Head of Dealer Development, as the German automaker prepares for the next phase of its growth in the Indian market.
Goel took charge of the new role in July 2026, according to his LinkedIn update. He will be responsible for strengthening the dealer network and driving business development for Volkswagen Passenger Cars India.
The appointment comes at an important stage for Volkswagen India, which is preparing to expand its product portfolio with the introduction of an all-new sub-4-metre compact SUV in 2027. The upcoming model is expected to help the automaker reach a wider customer base and strengthen its presence in one of India’s most competitive SUV segments.
Rishi Goel Brings Over 25 Years of Automotive Experience
Goel brings more than 25 years of experience spanning automotive OEMs, retail operations and entrepreneurial ventures. His career includes leadership and management roles across Volkswagen, Maruti Suzuki, Audi, General Motors, Tata Motors and Ola.
His experience covers several areas of the automotive business, including dealer and network development, sales and aftersales, P&L management, business transformation and retail operations.
Before returning to Volkswagen India, Goel served as Co-founder and CEO of automotive aftermarket startup Autofaktory, a position he held from July 2022 to August 2026.
He has also previously served as Senior Director at Ola Cars and as CEO of Concorde Motors India, adding experience across automotive retail, dealership operations and business management.
Focus on Volkswagen India’s Dealer Network
In his new role, Goel will focus on strengthening Volkswagen Passenger Cars India’s dealer network and supporting the company’s broader business development objectives.
His experience across OEM operations and automotive retail is expected to support Volkswagen’s efforts to improve its market reach and prepare its retail network for upcoming products.
The appointment comes as Volkswagen India looks to build momentum through new product introductions, with the planned sub-4-metre SUV in 2027 expected to play an important role in the company’s future product strategy.
With Goel taking charge of dealer development, Volkswagen India aims to strengthen its retail footprint and enhance customer access as it prepares to enter new segments and broaden its presence in the Indian passenger vehicle market.
