Amara Raja’s Giga Corridor in Telangana to cater to e-mobility, energy storage market

Amara Raja is setting up a Giga Corridor that will include one of India’s largest lithium-ion Giga Factories for Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) manufacturing and Battery Pack assembly at Telangana New Energy Park, Mahbubnagar.

The Telangana government has assured all necessary support for Amara Raja group’s advanced chemistry cell gigafactory and battery pack assembly unit being set up in Mahbubnagar District. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy gave this assurance to the Amara Raja team in Hyderabad regarding their landmark Giga Corridor project and ePositive Energy Labs in Telangana.

Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy said, “Amara Raja is a key partner in Telangana’s growth story and assured the necessary support towards the operationalization of the Advanced Chemistry Cell Giga Factory, Battery Pack Assembly and ePositive Energy Labs in Telangana.” The Chief Minister further stated that “Telangana is committed towards Clean Energy and advanced storage technologies like ACCs are a priority sector for the State.”

Sri Jaydev Galla, Chairman & Managing Director Amara Raja Energy & Mobility (formerly Amara Raja Batteries) met Chief Minister Sri Revanth Reddy and Minister for IT and Industries Sri Sridhar Babu in Hyderabad. During the meeting, Hon’ble Chief Minister and Sri Galla discussed Amara Raja’s ongoing projects in Telangana and explored future areas of collaboration between the State and Amara Raja.

Amara Raja Energy & Mobility (ARE&M) is one of India’s leading energy storage and mobility enterprises and also one of the largest manufacturers of batteries for both industrial and automotive application.

As part of its foray into Advanced Energy Storage Technologies to address the growing electric mobility and Energy Storage markets, Amara Raja is setting up a Giga Corridor that will include one of India’s largest lithium-ion Giga Factories for Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) manufacturing and Battery Pack assembly at Telangana New Energy Park, Mahbubnagar and an R&D hub called the ePositive Energy Labs in Shamshabad with a capital investment of ₹9,500 Crores and direct employment generation potential for 4,500 people and almost similar number in indirect employment.

Chief Secretary Smt. A. Santhi Kumari, Principal Secretary ITE&C, I&C Depts. Sri Jayesh Ranjan, and Special Secretary, Investment Promotion Sri Vishnu Vardhan Reddy were also present during the meeting.
