As we look ahead to 2024, several car manufacturers are preparing to introduce new and facelifted SUV models to cater to the ever-growing demand. Here’s a glimpse at five of the most anticipated SUVs set to make their debut in India in 2024.

2024 Hyundai Creta facelift

Hyundai is set to launch the facelifted version of its best-selling mid-size SUV, the Creta, on January 16, 2024. The Hyundai Creta, which competes with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Kia Seltos, will receive significant updates both inside and out. One of the key enhancements will be the introduction of an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), elevating the safety quotient of the vehicle. Additionally, it will feature a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, aligning it with the power offerings of its rival, the Kia Seltos.

2024 Kia Sonet facelift

The updated compact SUV, Kia Sonet, is slated for a January 2024 release, with bookings already underway. The Kia Sonet stands as a formidable competitor against the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Mahindra XUV300. The facelifted Sonet boasts an array of features, including six airbags, LED sound-ambient lighting, a connected 10.25-inch HD touchscreen navigation, and a 10.25-inch instrument cluster panel. It also has a surround view monitor and over 70 connected car features, including 25 safety features with a high-safety package and 10 ADAS features.

Tata Curvv

Tata Motors’ Curvv is expected to be a game-changer upon its launch in 2024, targeting competitors like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Kia Seltos. The Curvv is anticipated to be available in both ICE and EV formats, offering versatility to consumers. While specific details are yet to be revealed, the all-electric version is expected to have a claimed range of 400 to 500km, making it a compelling choice for eco-conscious drivers.

Mahindra Thar 5-door

Mahindra has confirmed the launch of the Thar 5-door for 2024, which will take on the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the upcoming Force Gurkha 5-door. Spied testing in India, the Thar 5-door will feature LED headlamps with circular LED DRLs, newly designed alloy wheels, an electric sunroof, a new infotainment system, and a modern instrument cluster, among other updates.

Nissan X-Trail

Nissan is expected to reintroduce the X-Trail to the Indian market after March 2024, following the success of the Magnite. The fourth-gen X-Trail, which is currently undergoing tests in India, is based on the Alliance CMF-C platform and will offer both strong hybrid and mild hybrid systems. With premium features like a 12.3-inch digital cluster and touchscreen, ADAS technology, and a 360-degree camera, the X-Trail aims to provide a luxurious and technologically advanced driving experience.

These upcoming SUVs reflect the diverse preferences of Indian consumers, ranging from rugged off-roaders to sophisticated urban cruisers. With advanced features, improved safety standards, and a focus on both performance and sustainability, the 2024 lineup of SUVs is poised to further fuel the nation’s SUV craze.
