MAHLE has landed a significant new order in the field of vehicle electrification in China. The technology group will supply a DC/DC converter to support the future battery-electric vehicle lineup of a global automaker operating in the region. Valued at €200 million, the contract underscores MAHLE’s growing role in China’s rapidly advancing EV sector.
Production is scheduled to begin in mid-2028 at MAHLE’s facility in Changshu.
“China is the world’s leading market for vehicle electrification, and this order strengthens our footprint in the largest automotive market globally,” said Dr. Roger Busch, MAHLE’s Head of Sales & Technology and a member of the Management Committee. “The pace of innovation in China is tremendous. We see strong growth opportunities, particularly in electrification and thermal management.”
DC/DC converters transform the voltage of the high-voltage battery from 800 volts into a low voltage level of 12 volts. This supplies all 12 volts devices in a vehicle that cannot be operated with a battery voltage of 800 volts, for example cameras, multimedia systems, or electric pumps.
MAHLE will manufacture the product in its currently emerging production and development location for e-mobility in Changshu. Around 600 employees work there.
The Group cooperates with all international vehicle and engine manufacturers in China, as well as major Chinese OEMs. MAHLE develops and produces locally for the Chinese market and the world.
