Greenfuel Energy Solutions, a subsidiary of Lumax Auto Technologies Limited, has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility for ferrule-less tubes and fittings at its Manesar plant, marking the first localisation of this advanced technology in India.
The facility was inaugurated in the presence of senior leadership from Maruti Suzuki India and represents an initial investment of ₹25 crore, with plans to invest an additional ₹50 crore over the next four to five years. The production line is currently capable of supporting around 100,000 vehicles, with commercial output set to scale progressively in line with customer requirements and market demand.
Previously fully imported, the ferrule-less tube and fitting technology has been localised to support CNG vehicle applications. The torque-tightened system is engineered for high-volume manufacturing, delivering consistent assembly torque and repeatable quality standards. Localisation is expected to significantly reduce costs by eliminating import duties, freight expenses, and foreign exchange exposure, while also improving supply reliability.
Deepak Jain, Director at Lumax Auto Technologies Limited, said the project accelerates technology transfer and reinforces domestic supply chains, strengthening India’s automotive manufacturing ecosystem. Anmol Jain, Managing Director of Lumax Auto Technologies Limited, added that the initiative enhances operational efficiencies and enables faster validation cycles in collaboration with OEM partners.
Akshay Kashyap, Managing Director and CEO of Greenfuel Energy Solutions, confirmed that supplies have already commenced to a leading OEM, with growing interest from other manufacturers. He noted that the technology has been successfully deployed by a German automotive OEM for over seven years and has now been indigenised in partnership with WEH Gas Tech, Greenfuel’s long-standing German collaborator of nearly two decades.
The manufacturing line, sourced from Germany and adapted to Indian operating conditions, is expected to deliver lower total cost of ownership, faster component availability, and assured supply continuity for OEMs and fleet operators.
In 2024, Lumax Auto Technologies acquired a 60 per cent stake in Greenfuel Energy Solutions’ alternate fuels business for ₹153.09 crore. The business reported revenues of ₹170 crore in the first half of the fiscal year and currently holds an order book of approximately ₹200 crore.
The Lumax Group operates across automotive lighting, transmission systems, structures, control systems, advanced plastics, mechatronics, and green and alternate fuels. The Group reported brand revenues of ₹10,045 crore in FY2024–25, maintains 12 global automotive partnerships, and operates 16 entities across 42 locations in India.
Greenfuel Energy Solutions specialises in high-pressure fuel delivery and storage systems for CNG and hydrogen vehicles, along with fire and smoke alarm systems for the automotive industry.
