Celebrating 75 years of Nissan’s SUV legacy, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. (NMIPL) has earned an India Book of Records title after a convoy of 60 all-new Nissan TEKTON premium SUVs completed a five-day Himalayan expedition spanning over 700 km. The achievement marks the largest convoy of a single-model four-wheeler to reach Leh, underscoring the capability and durability of Nissan’s latest premium SUV.
The record-setting journey began in Chandigarh (1,053 ft), climbed to the Shinku La Pass (16,703 ft), and concluded in Leh (11,480 ft). Traversing highways, mountain passes, high-altitude terrain and varying weather conditions, the expedition showcased the TEKTON’s engineering strength and real-world performance in some of India’s most demanding driving environments.
Following the route from Chandigarh to Manali, Zangla via Shinku La, and finally Leh, the convoy was driven by media professionals and automotive industry experts, providing a comprehensive demonstration of the TEKTON’s off-road capability, endurance and premium SUV credentials while reinforcing Nissan’s 75-year heritage in SUV innovation.
Commenting on the achievement, Mr. Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said, “Entering the India Book of Records with the all-new Nissan TEKTON is a proud moment for Nissan Motor India and a fitting celebration of our 75-year SUV excellence. While the record is significant, what makes the achievement especially meaningful is what it represents. Sixty TEKTON SUVs successfully completed a demanding Himalayan drive, demonstrating the vehicle’s capability, durability and engineering strength in real-world conditions. This milestone reflects Nissan’s commitment to delivering premium SUVs that give customers confidence wherever their journeys take them. It also reinforces our belief in the all-new TEKTON as a vehicle engineered to perform across India’s diverse driving environments.”
The India Book of Records recognition reinforces Nissan’s long-standing SUV legacy while highlighting the all-new TEKTON’s ability to perform across diverse and demanding terrains. Inspired by Nissan’s iconic Patrol, the premium SUV combines bold design, Japanese craftsmanship, advanced safety technologies, Google built-in with access to more than 200 apps through Google Play, and a 100% turbocharged engine line-up. The 60-Tekton convoy was driven by industry experts and media fraternity all through the route.
