Mercedes-Benz is set to launch the facelifted 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class in India on October 5, more than six months after its global debut in March. The updated luxury sedan brings the styling and technology revisions introduced with the standard S-Class, along with Maybach-specific design elements, expanded personalisation options and upgraded powertrains.
2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class: Exterior Updates
The facelifted Maybach S-Class retains its signature design while gaining several visual enhancements. The front grille is now 20 per cent larger and gets LED illumination, complemented by an illuminated Mercedes star on the bonnet. The grille continues to feature Maybach’s characteristic vertical slats and an illuminated Maybach wordmark.
The headlights have also been redesigned and are larger than before, featuring three-pointed-star daytime running lights. The lower air intakes feature a mesh pattern incorporating small Maybach logos, while the Maybach emblem on the D-pillar is now illuminated. At the rear, the tail-lamps feature the three-pointed-star LED lighting signature seen on the standard S-Class.
The Maybach S-Class continues to be 180mm longer than the long-wheelbase S-Class. New forged alloy wheels will be available in 20- and 21-inch sizes, including multi-spoke designs featuring a counterweighted Mercedes logo that remains upright as the wheels rotate.
Expanded Maybach Manufaktur Personalisation
Mercedes-Benz is also expanding the range of Manufaktur personalisation options for the Maybach S-Class. Customers will be able to choose from additional exterior colours and two-tone paint combinations.
The cabin can be specified with a wider selection of extended leather upholstery, including leather covering lower sections of the interior around the footwell. New upholstery colours are also available.
For the first time on a Maybach model, buyers will also have the option of leather-free vegan upholstery, which comes with a dedicated interior design treatment.
New Superscreen and Electronics Architecture
The updated Maybach S-Class adopts the S-Class-inspired Superscreen layout, featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.4-inch central touchscreen and a 12.3-inch passenger display.
The sedan also gets a new electrical and electronic architecture featuring four ‘supercomputers’. These systems control a range of functions, including the displays, safety systems and driving dynamics.
Rear-seat comfort remains a key focus of the Maybach S-Class. The rear seats can recline by up to 43 degrees, compared with 38 degrees in the standard S-Class, and come with heating, ventilation and massage functions.
The previous tablet-style rear-seat controller has also been replaced by two individual smartphone-style remotes, allowing passengers to control various vehicle functions.
More Powerful V8 and PHEV Powertrains
The facelifted Maybach S-Class is offered with petrol and plug-in hybrid powertrains in international markets.
The S 580 gets an upgraded 4.0-litre V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft, producing 537hp and 750Nm. Select markets also get the S 580e plug-in hybrid, which combines a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine with a 163hp electric motor and a 22kWh battery. The system produces a combined 585hp and 750Nm, while the electric-only range is rated at up to 98km.
At the top of the range, the S 680 is offered with either a V12 or a more powerful V8, depending on the market. If the S 680 comes to India in this configuration, it is expected to use the 4.0-litre V8 producing 612hp and 850Nm.
2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class: Expected India Price
The Mercedes-Maybach S 580 currently sold in India is priced from Rs 2.87 crore (ex-showroom), before options.
The facelifted model is expected to carry a higher price tag, reflecting its updated styling, new technology, expanded personalisation options and powertrain upgrades. Mercedes-Benz has yet to confirm which powertrain version of the updated Maybach S-Class will be offered in India.
