Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast has filed design patents in India for two new electric two-wheelers—the Viper electric scooter and an electric motorcycle that appears to be based on the Sulad concept unveiled earlier this year. The latest filings indicate that the company’s India strategy could extend beyond the three electric scooters it had previously planned to introduce.
Viper E-Scooter Patent Filed
The newly filed patent closely matches the VinFast Viper currently sold in Vietnam. Unlike an earlier patent filed in June 2026, which featured some styling differences, the latest design mirrors the production model with its sharp, angular bodywork, five-spoke alloy wheels, hub-mounted electric motor and overall silhouette.
The current-generation VinFast Viper is equipped with a 4.8 kWh battery pack paired with a 3 kW hub-mounted electric motor, offering an urban-focused electric mobility solution.
Electric Motorcycle Based on Sulad Concept
The second patent filing is for an electric motorcycle that closely resembles the VinFast Sulad concept, showcased earlier this year as part of the company’s future electric motorcycle portfolio.
While VinFast has not officially revealed technical specifications for the concept, reports from Vietnamese media suggest the production model could feature an electric motor producing up to 50 kW and a top speed of around 130 km/h.
India Expansion Plans
VinFast had previously announced plans to enter India’s electric two-wheeler market in 2026, with three electric scooter models from its Vietnam portfolio under consideration for launch.
The filing of design patents for both the Viper electric scooter and the Sulad-based electric motorcycle suggests the company’s India product roadmap may be broader than originally outlined.
VinFast has not yet confirmed launch timelines or technical specifications for either model in India. However, the latest patent filings signal the company’s intent to strengthen its presence in the country’s rapidly growing electric two-wheeler segment.
