Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India launches Honda NX500 with E-Clutch Technology at Rs 7.44 lakh

Honda’s E-Clutch system uses electronic sensors and actuators to automate clutch operation during starts, stops, and gear changes. The technology continuously monitors throttle position, engine speed, and gear selection to automatically manage clutch engagement and disengagement.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has launched the updated Honda NX500 equipped with the brand’s new E-Clutch technology in India. The motorcycle is priced at Rs 7.44 lakh (ex-showroom), and bookings are now open at Honda BigWing dealerships across the country.

Apart from the introduction of the E-Clutch system, the motorcycle remains mechanically and cosmetically unchanged. The NX500 continues with the same bodywork, lighting setup, engine configuration, chassis, suspension hardware, and feature list.

How Honda’s E-Clutch Technology Works

Honda’s E-Clutch system uses electronic sensors and actuators to automate clutch operation, reducing the need for manual clutch input during starts, stops, and gear changes.

The system continuously monitors parameters such as throttle input, engine speed, and gear position to manage clutch engagement automatically.

With the E-Clutch setup, riders can shift gears using the foot lever without manually operating the clutch lever. The system also handles clutch engagement while moving off from a standstill and disengages the clutch automatically during stops to prevent engine stalling.

During gear shifts, the system briefly disengages and re-engages the clutch to ensure smoother transitions between gears.

Despite the added automation, Honda says the motorcycle still retains the feel and control of a conventional manual transmission bike. Riders continue to have full control over gear selection, while the clutch lever remains fully functional for manual override whenever required.

According to Honda, the technology has been designed to reduce rider fatigue, especially in stop-and-go urban traffic conditions and during long-distance touring.

Engine and Hardware Remain Unchanged

Powering the Honda NX500 is the same 471cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine producing 47hp and 43Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox.

The adventure tourer is built around a steel diamond frame and features:

  • Showa SFF-BP upside-down front forks
  • Preload-adjustable rear monoshock suspension
  • Dual front disc brakes
  • Rear disc brake
  • Dual-channel ABS as standard

The motorcycle rides on a 19-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel setup, balancing highway touring comfort with light off-road capability.

Features and Colour Options

The Honda NX500 comes equipped with a 5-inch full-colour TFT instrument cluster featuring Honda RoadSync connectivity for navigation, call alerts, and music controls.

Additional features include:

  • Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC)
  • All-LED lighting setup
  • Smartphone connectivity functions

Honda is offering the NX500 with E-Clutch technology in two colour options:

  • Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic
  • Pearl Horizon White

The launch marks Honda’s continued push toward integrating rider-assistance technologies aimed at improving everyday usability while retaining the engagement of manual motorcycles.
