Matter Aera debuts in Delhi as India’s first Geared Electric Motorcycle at ₹1.93 Lakh

The Matter Aera features a 4-speed HyperShift gearbox with three ride modes, offering 12 riding combinations. It includes a liquid-cooled powertrain, a 5kWh IP67-rated battery, delivers a certified range of up to 172 km, and accelerates from 0 to 40 km/h in under 2.8 seconds.

Ahmedabad-based EV startup Matter has officially launched its flagship electric motorcycle, the Aera, in New Delhi. Priced at an introductory ex-showroom rate of ₹1,93,826, the Aera is now available for booking on the company’s website, arriving just in time for the festive season.

Touted as India’s first geared electric motorcycle, the Aera is equipped with a four-speed manual transmission system, HyperShift, delivering a manual riding experience in an electric format. Entirely designed and built in India, it also features smart connected technology and digital integration.

Commenting on the launch, Arun Pratap Singh, Founder and Group COO of Matter, said, “Delhi holds immense potential for electric mobility. The Aera is crafted to meet the modern urban rider’s expectations by blending performance, innovation, and efficiency.”

The Matter Aera comes equipped with a 4-speed HyperShift manual gearbox paired with three ride modes, delivering a total of 12 unique riding combinations. Designed specifically for Indian terrain and climate, the bike features a liquid-cooled powertrain and a 5kWh battery pack with an IP67 rating. It offers a certified IDC range of up to 172 km and can accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in under 2.8 seconds.

Enhancing the digital riding experience, the Aera sports a 7-inch touchscreen dashboard with built-in navigation, ride statistics, music controls, and over-the-air (OTA) update support. The motorcycle also includes dual disc brakes with ABS, a dual suspension setup, and a smart park assist feature.

Keyless convenience comes via a smart key, while the MatterVerse mobile app enables ride analytics, remote locking/unlocking, live tracking, and geo-fencing. With an estimated running cost of just 25 paise per kilometre, Matter projects potential savings of up to ₹1 lakh over three years of city usage.

Founded in 2019, Matter aims to build a self-reliant electric mobility ecosystem. The company has over 600 employees and has filed more than 350 patents—75 of which have been granted—across areas including powertrains, gearboxes, liquid cooling, battery management, and manufacturing automation.
