Tata Communications and Tata Motors partner to advance Software-Defined Vehicles in India

The Tata Sierra.ev will feature in-built 5G connectivity through Tata Communications MOVE, enabling advanced software-defined vehicle features, OTA updates, remote diagnostics and connected in-car services.

Tata Communications and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) have announced a strategic collaboration to accelerate the adoption of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs) in India. As part of the partnership, the newly launched Sierra.ev will feature built-in 5G cellular connectivity, enabling a range of advanced connected-car and digital in-vehicle experiences.

The Tata Communications MOVE Connected Vehicle Platform will be integrated with Tata Motors’ new N.IO software-defined vehicle platform. The integration is designed to deliver seamless connectivity while making the Sierra.ev future-ready and scalable for next-generation connected vehicle technologies.

The collaboration will also support the development of AI-enabled applications and other advanced digital capabilities, strengthening Tata Motors’ focus on connected, intelligent and software-driven mobility solutions.

The Sierra.ev aims to provide its customers with enhanced safety features and in-vehicle experiences. Tata Communications MOVEwill enable this with a smooth onboarding journey, in-vehicle secured connectivity for seamless content streaming, faster over-the-air updates, and an option for users to buy additional subscription packs, while ensuring safety critical features like emergency calls, remote support and remote vehicle diagnostics in real time.

Tata Communications is committed to bringing TMPV’s vision to reality – to transform their vehicles into continuously connected digital experiences that provides uninterrupted infotainment, offer personalisation, improve fleet efficiency, and open new avenues for revenue generation. This collaboration will ensure TMPV is future-ready with seamless connectivity, intelligent services, and continuous feature updates that redefine customer experience.

Vivek Manglik, Executive Vice President – Interaction Fabric, Tata Communications, said: “Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles has consistently set benchmarks for innovation in the automotive industry, and we are excited to collaborate on the launch of the Sierra.ev.
