Hyundai Motor’s E3W and E4W electric micro-mobility concepts have won the Gold award in the Concepts & Speculative Design 2026 category, recognising the companies’ efforts to develop innovative last-mile mobility solutions tailored for urban environments.
Co-developed with TVS Motor Company, the E3W and E4W concepts are designed to address the mobility needs of densely populated cities and varied road conditions, particularly in India. The concepts focus on compact dimensions, flexible interiors and practical features aimed at improving usability for both passenger and commercial applications.
Designed for Urban and Last-Mile Mobility
The E3W and E4W concepts feature compact proportions intended to enhance manoeuvrability in congested traffic conditions. An angled windscreen is designed to improve visibility for drivers, while a flat, barrier-free floor allows easier ingress and egress, including improved accessibility for wheelchair users.
The vehicles also feature fold-and-dive seating, enabling the cabin to be configured for passenger transport or cargo-carrying duties depending on operational requirements.
To address challenges such as uneven roads and waterlogged streets, the concepts incorporate adjustable ride height, allowing greater flexibility across different operating conditions.
Modular Architecture for Multiple Applications
Hyundai and TVS Motor have developed the concepts around a modular platform that can support multiple use cases, including passenger transportation, logistics services and emergency-response applications.
The concepts also incorporate digital interfaces and an ergonomic cabin layout designed to simplify vehicle operation and improve user experience.
Hyundai and TVS Motor Partnership
The E3W and E4W concepts build on the collaboration between Hyundai Motor and TVS Motor to develop electric three-wheelers for India’s last-mile mobility market.
In April 2026, the two companies signed a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) to accelerate the development and commercialisation of electric three-wheelers.
Under the agreement, Hyundai Motor is responsible for design and co-development, while TVS Motor contributes its electric vehicle platform, three-wheeler engineering expertise and knowledge of local market requirements. TVS Motor is also expected to lead local sales operations, with manufacturing in India supporting domestic demand as well as potential export opportunities.
The companies have previously indicated that the first vehicle developed under the partnership will be launched in India, with localisation of key components planned as part of the production programme.
First Showcased at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025
The E3W concept was first unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, where it highlighted features such as adaptive ground clearance, flexible cabin layouts and thermal management systems designed specifically for Indian operating conditions.
The Gold award in the Concepts & Speculative Design 2026 category underscores the growing focus on innovative, adaptable and sustainable mobility solutions for urban transportation and last-mile connectivity.
