Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has flagged off EKA Mobility’s electric buses in Jaipur, marking the commencement of the first phase of deployment under the company’s order for 876 electric buses in the state.
The contract was awarded to EKA Mobility in partnership with Chartered Speed under the Government of India’s PM e-Bus Sewa initiative, aimed at accelerating the adoption of sustainable public transportation across urban centres. The electric buses will be deployed across eight cities in Rajasthan, strengthening the state’s efforts to promote cleaner, more efficient, and environmentally friendly mobility solutions.
Built on EKA Mobility’s advanced electric vehicle platform, the buses are equipped with intelligent transport systems, enhanced safety technologies, and zero-tailpipe-emission powertrains. The vehicles also feature dedicated wheelchair lift door mechanisms, ensuring improved accessibility and inclusive mobility for Divyang passengers.
Commenting on the milestone, Sudhir Mehta, Founder and Chairman of EKA Mobility, said the company is proud to support Rajasthan’s transition towards sustainable transportation and contribute to the development of a cleaner public mobility ecosystem.
The deployment is expected to play a key role in reducing the environmental impact of urban transportation while improving passenger comfort, accessibility, and operational efficiency. The initiative further underscores the growing momentum behind electric public transport adoption in India and aligns with the country’s broader sustainability and decarbonisation goals.
