Mercedes-Benz launches New GLE LWB SUV and AMG C 43 4MATIC sedan

The new luxury SUV will be offered in three powertrains – GLE 300d 4MATIC, GLE 450d 4MATIC, and GLE 450 4MATIC

India’s most desirable luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz India, launched two new products, the new GLE luxury SUV and the AMG C 43 4MATIC performance sedan. While the GLE further strengthens Mercedes-Benz’s SUV portfolio, the new AMG C 43 4MATIC sets new standards for driving performance and exclusivity, as it directly derives its technology from Formula 1 and now features the ‘One Man One Engine’ philosophy.

The new GLE range introduces a host of upgrades with a refined interior and exterior, as well as an expanded technology and equipment list. The GLE will be offered in three powertrain options– GLE 300 d 4MATIC, GLE 450 d 4MATIC, and GLE 450 4MATIC. While the GLE 300 d 4MATIC and the GLE 450 4MATIC will be available immediately, while the GLE 450 d deliveries will start later from January 2024.

The new AMG C 43 4MATIC features the AMG 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, the world’s first series-production unit to feature an electric exhaust gas turbocharger. This new form of turbocharging guarantees particularly spontaneous response across the entire rev range, offering an even more dynamic driving experience. The new turbocharging system and the 48-volt onboard electrical system not only contribute to the outstanding driving dynamics of the C 43 4MATIC but also improve the car’s efficiency. The company said the bookings are open and deliveries will start by the end of November.

Mr Iyer further said, “The new LWB GLE, with its new design, enhanced features, latest equipment, and technological upgrades; is the most advanced GLE ever, continuing the luxury SUV’s success story in India. Approximately 20,000 GLEs are on Indian roads, strongly underlining the overwhelming customer response to the GLE over the generations, making it the most successful SUV in our portfolio. With the new GLE, our SUV customers now have a perfect luxury SUV suitable both for long-distance leisure travel with the family as well as city driving.”

“The AMG C 43 4MATIC on the other hand is developed entirely at Affalterbach in accordance to the AMG famous ‘One Man One Engine’ philosophy making it highly exclusive. The vehicle’s state-of-the-art AMG 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine is the world’s first series-production unit to feature an electric exhaust gas turbocharger in the C-Class. The electric exhaust gas turbocharger guarantees spontaneous response across the entire rev range, offering a more dynamic driving experience than before. This system is a direct derivative of the F1 technology that the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team has been successfully using over the years. The C-Class remains an absolute success story for Mercedes-AMG and with the addition of AMG C43, customers now have on offer, a strong performance sedan in the segment,” said Mr Iyer.

The face lifted version of the GLE SUV in India starts at a price of Rs 96.40 lakh (ex-showroom) across three variants. The SUV has made its debut alongside the C43 AMG 4Matic sedan, which comes with a price tag of Rs. 98 lakh (ex-showroom). The company said that these are the last of its launches this year.  

Service Package for new GLE starts at Rs. 85,000 for 2 years and Service Package for AMG C 43 starts at Rs. 1.5 lakhs for 3 years.
