Maruti Suzuki India Limited has appointed Yukihiro Yamashita as the new Joint Managing Director, Engineering and Quality Assurance. The appointment comes following the resignation of Shigetoshi Torii, who served as a Non-Executive Director of the company until July 31, 2023.
Yukihiro Yamashita brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role at Maruti Suzuki. He holds a notable background in the automotive industry, having graduated from Nagoya University, Japan. With a career spanning over three decades, he began his journey at Nippon Denso Co., Ltd., later known as DENSO Corporation, in 1990. Throughout his tenure at DENSO, he assumed various significant roles, including Automobile Powertrain System Development and Powertrain Development Planning.
Joining Suzuki Motor Corporation in 2018 as Vice Executive General Manager of Automobile Engineering, Yamashita quickly climbed the ranks within the organization. His dedication and exceptional contributions earned him promotions, culminating in his appointment as Director, Senior Managing Officer, and Chief Technology Officer in 2021. Throughout his journey at SMC, he showcased his expertise in key areas such as Vehicle Regulations and Engineering Administration, Product Planning, Automobile Vehicle Engineering, and Automobile Powertrain Engineering.
As Joint Managing Director (Engineering and Quality Assurance) at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Yamashita is expected to play a pivotal role in the company’s ongoing commitment to innovation, product quality, and customer satisfaction.
