Shantanu Naidu, who gained prominence as an assistant to the late industrialist Ratan Tata, has moved to Tata Motors as General Manager for Strategic Initiatives, following over six years at Tata Sons.
Reflecting on the move, Naidu shared on LinkedIn, ‘I remember when my father used to walk home from the Tata Motors plant in his white shirt and navy pants, and I would wait for him at the window. It comes full circle now,’ highlighting the personal significance of his new position. Naidu’s connection to the Tata Group is deeply rooted, with his father working at Tata Motors’ Pune plant, and both his grandfather and great-grandfather at Tata Power’s hydroelectric facility in Bhira, Maharashtra.
While Naidu was previously based at Ratan Tata’s office in Tata Trusts, his salary had been drawn from Tata Sons. In January, his compensation was transferred to Tata Motors, marking the transition to his new role within the flagship company. Tata Group continues its tradition of promoting internal mobility to foster talent across its various businesses.
