Lexus unveils updated NX SUV in Global Premiere

Lexus has globally unveiled the new NX SUV with an all-new hybrid system, refreshed styling and the new Sensory Concierge cabin experience.

Lexus has unveiled the updated NX SUV in a global premiere on September 1, 2026. The refreshed model is scheduled to be introduced across international markets from the end of 2026.

First introduced in 2014 as Lexus’ first compact crossover SUV, the NX has established itself as one of the brand’s key global models. The SUV has been recognised for its agile urban driving dynamics, distinctive styling and versatility. As of the end of July 2026, cumulative global sales of the NX had reached approximately 1.9 million units across more than 90 countries and regions.

The latest NX has been developed under Lexus’ “DISCOVER YOUR EDGE” theme, following the brand’s “DISCOVER—Imitate No One” message introduced at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. The new model retains the balance of sportiness and utility that has defined the NX, while introducing updates aimed at the electrified era.

A key highlight is the all-new hybrid system, which Lexus says is designed to enhance driving performance. The updated SUV also receives refreshed exterior and interior designs, with the exterior featuring a more dynamic appearance intended to emphasise the model’s sporty character.

Inside, Lexus has adopted a simple, horizontal design theme to create a more spacious and relaxed environment for occupants. The new NX also introduces the “Sensory Concierge”, a feature that combines personalised lighting and fragrance settings to create a more relaxing, lounge-like cabin atmosphere.

Kunihiko Endo, Chief Engineer, Lexus International, said the NX has continued to evolve since its introduction while retaining its distinctive combination of sporty performance and stylish design.

According to Endo, the latest NX was developed around the idea of creating a vehicle that encourages drivers to explore beyond their usual routines and discover new possibilities.

The “DISCOVER YOUR EDGE” philosophy is reflected in several aspects of the new SUV, including its clean cockpit design, enhanced driving performance enabled by electrification technology, greater charging flexibility and a more customisable cabin environment.

The new NX allows occupants to personalise elements such as cabin illumination and fragrance according to their preferences, further enhancing the focus on comfort and individual experiences.

Lexus said the updated model continues the NX’s established balance of sportiness and utility while adding new technologies and features designed for the electrified era. With its refreshed design, upgraded hybrid system and enhanced cabin experience, the new NX is positioned to offer customers greater flexibility and a more engaging driving experience.
