Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd (Sona Comstar), a leading auto component manufacturer, reported its strongest-ever quarterly performance in Q2 FY26. The company posted a revenue of ₹1,144 crore, up 24% from ₹922 crore in the same period last year. EBITDA rose 13% to ₹289 crore with a margin of 25.3%, while net profit after tax increased 20% to ₹173 crore, compared to ₹144 crore in Q2 FY25.
Vivek Vikram Singh, MD & Group CEO, stated, “This quarter marks our highest-ever revenue, EBITDA, and net profit. Revenue growth was primarily driven by the expansion of our electric vehicle traction motor and railway businesses in India. In response to the global shortage of heavy rare-earth magnets, we shifted to alternative motor designs, now manufacturing light rare-earth magnet motors for electric two-wheelers. Additionally, we developed a rare-earth-free ferrite-assisted synchronous reluctance motor for electric three-wheelers and light commercial vehicles.”
He added, “We secured several significant new orders and were nominated for two programs—one in Asia and another in Europe—to supply motors and motor controllers for predictive active suspension systems, reflecting the growing adoption of our innovative suspension technology. We also received our first order from our new driveline plant in Mexico to supply differential assemblies to a U.S. OEM. Finally, we are partnering with Neura Robotics to develop advanced components for robots, cobots, and humanoids in India and other markets.”
H1 FY26 Performance
For the first half of FY26, revenue reached ₹1,994 crore, up from ₹1,812 crore in H1 FY25. EBITDA increased 10% to ₹492 crore, with a margin of 24.6%, while PAT rose to ₹297 crore from ₹285 crore a year earlier.
Shift to Rare-Earth-Free Technology
Amid the global heavy rare-earth magnet shortage, Sona Comstar has transitioned to light rare-earth magnet motors for electric two-wheelers and successfully developed ferrite-assisted synchronous reluctance motors for electric three-wheelers and light commercial vehicles.
