Hyundai Motor India has commenced bookings for the upcoming Bayon SUV, with the company positioning the new model as an intelligent, technology-focused offering for Indian buyers. Bookings are now open through Hyundai’s official website and authorised dealerships across the country for an initial amount of ₹11,000.
The 4.2-metre mid-size SUV is scheduled to be launched during the festive season. Hyundai says the Bayon will introduce an in-built generative AI voice assistant, designed to enable more natural interactions between the driver and the vehicle.
The Bayon is based on Hyundai’s Global K Enhanced Platform, which the automaker says has been engineered to meet 5-star Indian safety standards based on its internal assessment.
Hyundai is positioning the Bayon around five key areas — intelligence, safety, comfort, performance and styling — and describes it as an Intelligent Utility Vehicle.
Hyundai Bayon Design and Dimensions
The Hyundai Bayon measures 4.2 metres in length and features a wide SUV stance. Its exterior design incorporates a sculpted bonnet, futuristic front fascia, H-Edge LED daytime running lights, geometric wheel arches, wrap-around door cladding and bridge-type roof rails.
Inside, Hyundai says the cabin has been designed to maximise legroom, headroom and shoulder room, with the focus on delivering a spacious and comfortable environment for occupants.
Hyundai Bayon Safety and Technology
Safety is one of the key areas highlighted by Hyundai for the upcoming SUV. The Bayon uses the company’s Global K Enhanced Platform, which Hyundai says has been engineered for 5-star Indian safety standards.
The automaker has also highlighted occupant protection, structural rigidity and safety engineering as important aspects of the SUV’s development.
The generative AI voice assistant is the Bayon’s headline technology feature. Hyundai says the system is designed to offer more natural voice-based interaction while integrating connected convenience and vehicle functions.
Hyundai Bayon Engine and Transmission Options
The Hyundai Bayon will be offered with a petrol powertrain and will be available with both a manual transmission and an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).
Hyundai has not yet revealed detailed engine specifications, power and torque figures or fuel-efficiency numbers. More technical details are expected closer to the SUV’s launch.
