BMW launches iX in India

German luxury carmaker BMW on Monday launched its all-electric iX SUV in India at an introductory price of INR 1,15,90,000 (ex-showroom)

‘iX’ stands for the first BMW electric all-wheel drive vehicle (SAV – Sports Activity Vehicle). The car will be available as a completely-built-up unit (CBU) and can be booked through BMW website or dealerships across India. Deliveries for the new model will start by the beginning of April 2022, the company said.

According to BMW, the iX model is powered by two electric motors (for front and rear axles) and single-speed transmission. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/hour in 6.1 seconds with an output of 326 hp. It is available in three driving modes: Personal, Sport or Efficient.

Two high-voltage batteries integrated in the floor have a combined capacity of 76.6 kWh and provide a range of up to 425 km. The charging time for 150 kW DC Charger is 80% in 31 minutes or 95 km added range in 10 minutes, 50 kW DC Charger is 80% in 73 min or 100 km added range in 21 minutes and 11 kW AC Charger is 100% in about 7 hours or 100 km added range in 2.5 hours.
