Bajaj Auto has launched the brand-new Pulsar N160 motorcycle in the Indian market at a starting price of INR 1,22,854 for the single-channel ABS version, and INR 1,27,853 (both prices, ex-showroom New Delhi) for the dual-channel ABS model. The latest addition to the Pulsar range is based on the same platform as the N250, and also shares styling elements with the quarter-litre motorcycle.
Powering the motorcycle is a 165 cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine that puts out 16 PS of maximum power and 14.65 Nm of peak torque. This makes 1.2 PS lesser yet 0.05 Nm more than the Pulsar NS160. Bajaj claims that “85% of peak torque (is) available throughout the rev band for an unmatched pick-up”.
On the feature front, the new Pulsar N160 comes packed with bi-functional LED projector headlamp with LED DRLs, a USB mobile charger, alloy wheels, 300 mm front and 230 mm rear disc brakes, an under-belly exhaust, gear position indicator, as well as a segment-first dual-channel ABS. The bike rides on 100/80 R17 section front and 130/70 R17 section rear tyres.
As of now, Bajaj is offering the new N160 motorcycle in four different paint schemes, namely Caribbean Blue, Racing Red and Techno Grey for the single-channel ABS version, and Brooklyn Black for the dual-channel ABS version. The new Bajaj bike directly puts up against the likes of the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, while it will also face competition from the slightly more affordable Hero Xtreme 160R.
