Routematic rolls out “COCO Rides” shuttle services to ease Hinjawadi daily commute

With coverage across 70+ routes and 500+ boarding points, the initiative is set to benefit over 1.25 lakh employees.

Routematic has introduced “COCO Rides,” an app-based shuttle service aimed at easing daily commuting challenges in Pune’s Hinjawadi IT hub. Developed in partnership with the Hinjawadi Industries Association (HIA) and supported by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and the Regional Transport Office (RTO), the AI-enabled corporate mobility solution is designed to streamline employee transportation. The initiative is set to benefit over 1.25 lakh employees across more than 80 companies operating within one of India’s largest IT clusters.

The service was flagged off at the Infosys campus in Hinjawadi in the presence of HIA President Subramanian Radhakrishnan, Sriram Kannan, Founder & CEO, Routematic and Kavitha Ramachandragowda, Co-Founder & Executive Director, Routematic.

COCO Rides will operate with an initial fleet of over 80 buses, covering 70-plus routes and more than 500 boarding points across Pune, connecting key residential areas with office hubs in Hinjawadi, with a daily capacity of up to 20,000 riders. The service is fully app-based and digital, enabling employees of HIA member companies to reserve seats in advance and commute on fixed routes, schedules and fixed pricing.

Speaking on the occasion, Sriram Kannan, Founder and CEO, Routematic, said: “India’s leading technology hubs are at a point where commute infrastructure is struggling to keep pace with workforce growth. The future of corporate mobility lies in high-capacity, shared transport networks like COCO Rides, that bring predictability and efficiency at scale. Following our deployments across corporate hubs, we are now bringing COCO Rides to Pune, and plan to expand the service to other business districts and cities in the coming months.”

Kavitha Ramachandragowda, Co-founder and Executive Director, Routematic, added, “High-density traffic in cities like Pune calls for commute solutions that are simple, safe and reliable. COCO Rides is designed to offer a cost-effective and dependable daily office commute, while supporting more sustainable urban mobility.”

Welcoming the initiative, Subramanian Radhakrishnan, President, Hinjawadi Industries Association said: “This is a critical intervention for Hinjawadi’s mobility challenges. COCO Rides reflects what can be achieved when industry stakeholders come together to build practical, scalable solutions. Such a shared mobility network will significantly enhance the daily commute experience for employees of our member companies, while easing pressure on our city’s infrastructure.”

Backed by a central command system for real-time monitoring, COCO Rides offers a more organised alternative to ad-hoc shuttle services and informal carpooling, with an emphasis on consistency and safety. Employees can download the COCO Rides app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, register using their mobile number and official corporate email ID, select preferred pickup points and routes, and book seats based on fixed schedules.

According to the TomTom Traffic Index 2025, Pune is the second-most congested city in India and fifth globally, with congestion levels rising to 71.1 per cent. Commuters spend an average of 34 minutes per 10 km, translating to nearly 158 hours lost annually. With lakhs of employees commuting daily to the Hinjawadi IT corridor, this underscores the urgent need for structured, high-capacity and predictable employee transport solutions like COCO Rides.
