Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. (Sona Comstar) has reported its highest-ever quarterly revenue, battery electric vehicle (BEV) revenue and BEV revenue share for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27). Alongside its financial results, the mobility technology company announced its entry into the Robotics & Physical AI segment as part of its long-term Sona Comstar 2.0 growth strategy.
The company posted revenue of ₹1,310 crore, up 54% year-on-year (YoY), while EBITDA increased 49% YoY to ₹303 crore, with an EBITDA margin of 23.1%. Profit after tax (PAT) rose 45% YoY to ₹181 crore, translating into a net profit margin of 13.6%.
A key highlight of the quarter was the continued acceleration of Sona Comstar’s electrification business. BEV revenue more than doubled, growing 107% YoY, with BEV products contributing a record 44% of the company’s automotive revenue during the quarter.
Sona Comstar 2.0 targets next phase of growth
The company unveiled its Sona Comstar 2.0 strategy, setting an ambitious target of achieving another 10-fold revenue growth by FY35, replicating the expansion it delivered over the previous decade ending FY25.
The strategy is built around three key pillars:
- Accelerating the creation of new product verticals through organic and inorganic growth.
- Expanding its presence across Eastern world markets.
- Building intelligent and connected systems as a second long-term technology growth engine alongside electrification.
As part of this roadmap, Sona Comstar expanded its existing Sensors and Software business into a broader Robotics and Physical AI vertical.
The company plans to focus on developing mission-critical components and subsystems for robotics platforms, providing perception software and engineering services, and manufacturing selected full-stack robotic platforms.
DENSO partnership strengthens electrification portfolio
During the quarter, Sona Comstar also announced a strategic partnership with DENSO to jointly develop advanced high-voltage electric and hybrid powertrain systems, completing an important gap in its electrification portfolio.
Commenting on the performance, Vivek Vikram Singh, Managing Director & Group CEO, said: “Q1 FY27 marks the unveiling of Sona Comstar 2.0—our ambition to grow tenfold again over the next decade. As part of this strategy, we announced our entry into Robotics and Physical AI. Our partnership with DENSO also takes us into high-voltage electric and hybrid powertrain systems, completing an important missing piece in our electrification portfolio.
“The quarter was equally strong financially. We delivered our highest-ever quarterly revenue, BEV revenue and BEV revenue share. Revenue grew by 54% year on year, while EBITDA and PAT increased by 49% and 45%, respectively. BEV revenue more than doubled, and its share of automotive revenue reached an all-time high of 44%, despite continued weakness in the US EV market. This demonstrates the increasing diversification of our EV business across customers, products and geographies.”
New order wins across EV, hybrid and ICE segments
During Q1 FY27, Sona Comstar secured three major orders spanning electric, hybrid and internal combustion engine (ICE) programs across India, Europe and North America.
The company received:
- A ₹6.4 billion order from an existing North American passenger vehicle OEM to supply differential assemblies for a hybrid passenger vehicle platform, with production expected to begin in H2 FY29.
- Two orders worth ₹900 million from a new-age electric two-wheeler manufacturer for hub wheel traction motors, with production scheduled for H2 FY26.
- A ₹2.1 billion order from an existing North American OEM to supply differential gears for an ICE passenger vehicle platform, with production expected to commence in H2 FY28.
The company noted that these wins further diversify its order book across multiple propulsion technologies and global markets.
With record quarterly financial performance, expanding BEV contribution, strategic investments in Robotics & Physical AI, and a growing global order pipeline, Sona Comstar continues to strengthen its position as a leading mobility technology company focused on the future of electrified and intelligent mobility.
