Lexus unveils All-New ES at Shanghai World Premiere

The all-new Lexus ES leads the brand's next-gen electrification with HEV and BEV options. It offers a spacious, tech-rich cabin for premium comfort, debuts a new design language inspired by the LF-ZC concept, and delivers enhanced quietness and ride comfort through advanced electrification.

Lexus has revealed the all-new ES at its global debut during the Shanghai Motor Show, with a phased international rollout set to begin mid-2026.

First introduced in 1989 alongside the flagship LS, the ES has become a cornerstone of the Lexus lineup, renowned for its quiet ride, comfort, and spacious interior. Sold in over 80 countries, the ES continues to evolve in line with the brand’s electrification vision.

Since launching the RX 400h in 2005, Lexus has led luxury vehicle electrification by balancing dynamic performance with environmental responsibility. In 2024, electrified vehicles—including HEVs, PHEVs, and BEVs—made up a record 52% of Lexus’ global sales.

The all-new ES represents the second of three new BEV models scheduled to launch by March 2026 and signals the brand’s ongoing transformation. Lexus plans to unveil a comprehensive brand reimagining at the Japan Mobility Show in October 2025, reinforcing its commitment to carbon neutrality, innovative design, and a future-forward mobility experience.

The all-new 8th-generation Lexus ES marks a bold step forward in the brand’s next-generation electrification journey. Developed under the concept “Experience Elegance and Electrified Sedan,” the new ES is designed to elevate quietness, ride comfort, and driver engagement while staying closely attuned to evolving customer needs.

As part of Lexus’ multi-pathway approach to carbon neutrality, the new ES will be available with both HEV and BEV powertrains—offering flexibility to meet a wide range of mobility demands. Its exterior design, inspired by the next-generation LF-ZC BEV concept, introduces a fresh evolution in Lexus design language. The result is a sleek, flowing silhouette that perfectly balances refined proportions and dynamic presence—setting the tone for a more emotional and luxurious driving experience.

Inside, Lexus debuts two groundbreaking innovations:

  • Responsive Hidden Switches – the world’s first controls that subtly blend into the cabin, combining intuitive usability with seamless design.
  • Sensory Concierge – a Lexus-first feature that personalizes the cabin environment for a more immersive and luxurious journey.

The spacious, rear-seat-focused cabin is further enhanced to deliver new levels of comfort and refinement. Lexus has meticulously refined core vehicle dynamics and electrification systems to create an ideal balance between responsive handling, smooth ride quality, and a quiet cabin experience that delights every occupant.

The ES also features Lexus’ latest multimedia platform for enhanced connectivity and convenience, along with the next-generation Lexus Safety System+ to deliver advanced protection and peace of mind on every journey.

As a forerunner of Lexus’ next-generation electrified lineup, the new ES embodies the brand’s vision for a carbon-neutral, emotionally engaging, and technologically advanced future of luxury mobility.
