Opel releases the first official images of the Grandland Electric AWD

The new Opel Grandland Electric AWD marks a significant milestone as the brand’s first battery-electric SUV with all-wheel drive. Delivering an impressive 239 kW (325 hp) of system output and 509 Nm of torque, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.1 seconds. Designed for longer, emissions-free journeys, it offers a WLTP range of up to 501 km. Drivers can tailor their experience with four distinct drive modes—4WD, Sport, Normal, and Eco—catering to different driving preferences and conditions.

Building on its milestone achievement as the first German automaker to offer every model with a battery-electric option in 2024, Opel is charging ahead with its electrification strategy in 2025. The Rüsselsheim-based brand, having recently teased its upcoming high-performance all-electric GSE models, has now revealed the first images of the Opel Grandland Electric AWD – the brand’s first fully electric all-wheel-drive model bearing the iconic Blitz emblem.

“Our top-of-the-range Grandland SUV is a milestone for Opel, a milestone that is proving extremely popular since we opened the order books last October. Customers already have a choice of battery-electric drive, plug-in hybrid and hybrid with 48-volt technology. We are now offering even more choice with the Grandland Electric AWD and thus ensuring that our customers can enjoy maximum efficiency and safety in diverse weather and road conditions, combined with plenty of driving fun,” said Opel CEO Florian Huettl.

As part of the Grandland family, the new Grandland Electric AWD carries forward the striking design language of its siblings. It features the signature Opel 3D Vizor front with the illuminated Opel Blitz emblem, now enhanced by Edge Light Technology for a more prominent visual impact. The bold new logo is complemented by Opel’s award-winning Intelli-Lux HD headlamps, which incorporate over 50,000 individual lighting elements for unmatched visibility.

At the rear, the vehicle showcases an illuminated ‘OPEL’ wordmark, while embracing Opel’s eco-conscious Greenovation philosophy. In place of traditional chrome badging, the model name is now elegantly embossed into the center of the tailgate, reducing material use.

Distinctive styling elements set this variant apart, including aerodynamically optimized inserts on the front and rear bumpers and sleek 20-inch bi-colour aero wheels. These not only enhance the SUV’s sporty character but also help minimize wind resistance. With a drag coefficient of just 0.278, the Electric AWD stands as the most aerodynamically efficient model in the Grandland lineup.

Opel Grandland Electric AWD: Power, Efficiency, and Versatility:
The new Opel Grandland Electric AWD impresses with a powerful 239 kW (325 hp) system output, a 73 kWh Lithium-ion NMC battery, and a WLTP range of up to 501 km. Fast charging allows 20% to 80% top-up in under 30 minutes.

It features two electric motors—157 kW at the front and 82 kW at the rear—delivering 509 Nm of torque and offering four driving modes:

  • Normal Mode: Prioritizes front motor for daily efficiency; rear motor engages as needed.
  • 4WD Mode: Both motors active for optimal grip in slippery conditions.
  • Sport Mode: Power split 60:40 (front:rear) for dynamic performance and sharper responsiveness.
  • Eco Mode: Front motor focused with limited output for maximum efficiency; rear motor supports under heavy acceleration.

While delivering locally emissions-free all-wheel drive, the new Opel Grandland Electric AWD doesn’t compromise on performance. Powered by dual electric motors, it sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.1 seconds, offering a thrilling yet sustainable driving experience.

Enhancing both comfort and handling, the SUV features advanced frequency-selective damping technology as standard. This system includes a secondary hydraulic circuit within the dampers, allowing the suspension to adapt mechanically based on road conditions and driving style. It ensures a smooth, cushioned ride over high-frequency bumps like cobblestones or manhole covers, while also delivering more precise, responsive dynamics during sporty driving at lower frequencies.

The Grandland Electric AWD responds swiftly to driver inputs and maintains Opel’s hallmark stability during braking, cornering, and high-speed driving. With dedicated tuning for the springs, anti-roll bars, steering, and ESC system, the vehicle embodies Opel’s dynamic DNA—delivering a new level of safe, direct, and locally emissions-free driving excitement.
