Schaeffler India Limited has received official Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) licences for its manufacturing facilities in Maneja and Savli, Gujarat, marking a significant milestone for the company and the domestic bearings industry.
The BIS certifications cover the production of both Cylindrical Roller Bearings (CRBs) and Deep Groove Ball Bearings (DGBBs) at the two manufacturing plants. With this achievement, Schaeffler India becomes the first bearing manufacturer in the country to obtain a BIS licence for Cylindrical Roller Bearings under India’s newly introduced quality standards.
The certification follows the expansion of India’s regulatory quality framework, which introduces more stringent manufacturing and material standards to enhance the quality, safety and reliability of industrial components. By securing BIS licences for both facilities, Schaeffler India has aligned its production operations with the revised national standards, ensuring the uninterrupted supply of locally manufactured bearings to automotive and industrial original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
Commenting on the achievement, Harsha Kadam, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Schaeffler India Limited, said the milestone reflects the company’s strong manufacturing capabilities and the technical readiness of its teams to meet evolving regulatory requirements and industry standards.
