Lexus unveils All-New TZ Three-Row Electric SUV with “Driving Lounge” concept

Designed under the theme “DISCOVER LIMITLESS,” the TZ reflects Lexus’s vision of redefining premium electric mobility through emotional driving experiences and next-generation refinement.

Lexus has officially revealed full details of the all-new TZ, a three-row battery electric vehicle (BEV), marking its global debut.

Since its launch in 1989, Lexus has consistently focused on innovation, introducing advanced technologies and creating new value-driven experiences for customers. At the Japan Mobility Show 2025, the luxury automaker showcased several concept vehicles under its brand message, “DISCOVER – Imitate No One –,” highlighting its vision to evolve into a brand that delivers unique and personalized experiences.

As part of this new direction, Lexus will introduce a distinct “DISCOVER” theme for each model in its lineup to define the experience and lifestyle value offered by the vehicle.

For the newly unveiled TZ, Lexus has adopted the theme “DISCOVER LIMITLESS,” representing limitless possibilities across different lifestyles and stages of life. According to the company, the concept reflects its ambition to help customers move beyond everyday routines and embrace new adventures, experiences, and opportunities through the all-electric SUV.

As a model that embodies this “DISCOVER LIMITLESS” vision, the TZ is a new BEV three‑row SUV designed around the concept of the Driving Lounge―an elevated mobility space that brings a smile to every passenger. It seamlessly blends a relaxing cabin environment with the dynamic driving performance characteristic of Lexus. By balancing driving enjoyment with lounge‑like comfort in every seat, the TZ provides new experiential value for customers who cherish their time above all else. A dedicated platform and a simple, open cabin design create a spacious interior where all occupants can relax regardless of seating position. Lexus has also refined its signature quietness and thoroughly enhanced the vehicle’s dynamic performance, aiming to deliver both the smooth ride quality unique to BEVs and the joy of driving.

TZ’s design pursues the dual goals of sculptural beauty and aerodynamic excellence. While maintaining the powerful presence of an SUV, the TZ achieves top‑class aerodynamic performance among Lexus SUVs, which contributes to its impressive driving range. Additionally, “Forged Bamboo”, a decorative material made from Shikoku bamboo, adorns many of the interior’s surfaces, supporting both sustainable craftsmanship and the preservation of traditional techniques. Through the TZ, Lexus aims to offer a space that enriches time spent with loved ones, and a behind-the-wheel experience that stirs its driver’s emotions.

Takeshi Miyaura, Chief Engineer at Lexus International, said the all-new TZ was developed around the concept of a “Driving Lounge” — a refined and comfortable mobile space designed to bring enjoyment to both drivers and passengers.

According to Miyaura, the development team continuously refined the vehicle’s identity with a focus on customers who value authenticity and meaningful experiences. He explained that electrification through a battery electric vehicle (BEV) platform was chosen as the ideal way to deliver those values, combining driving pleasure with technological evolution.

Beyond the traditional Lexus experience of “seeing,” “riding,” and “driving,” the TZ introduces a new emphasis on how occupants spend time inside the vehicle. The company focused heavily on creating a relaxing, lounge-like cabin experience with attention given to every detail, including the newly developed platform, seats, and panoramic roof.

Miyaura noted that achieving harmony between design and aerodynamics was one of the project’s key priorities. While aerodynamic efficiency is essential for BEVs, Lexus also aimed to create a distinctive design that would stand out in the growing luxury mid-size SUV segment. The result, he said, is a form shaped by “functional beauty,” balancing engineering performance with striking styling.

On the driving side, Lexus leveraged the advantages of electrification along with its “Aji-migaki” refinement philosophy to fine-tune the vehicle’s performance and cabin comfort. Special focus was placed on reducing noise and enhancing acoustic quality to create a quiet and immersive environment.

“If you want to enjoy music, do it in a TZ,” Miyaura said, emphasizing the vehicle’s lounge-like atmosphere.

He also highlighted the importance of sustainability not only from an environmental perspective, but also in preserving the emotional joy of driving for future generations. Lexus hopes the TZ will inspire drivers and passengers alike, creating memorable experiences and strengthening emotional connections with driving.

Miyaura added that the “Driving Lounge” concept reflects Lexus’s ambition to combine premium comfort with engaging driving dynamics while enhancing the experience for everyone on board. He said the TZ is designed to bring greater beauty, enjoyment, and depth to everyday journeys.
